Cop Rocking Out To Taylor Swift Exposed As Publicity Stunt

The Dover Police Department recently posted a video of a cop rocking out to Taylor Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off.”

The PD’s approval numbers went through the roof, and their Facebook likes are still soaring.

“While reviewing dashcam footage, we come across some interesting sights to say the least,” the department spokesperson said.

“We decided we would share some with you in a new web series called ‘Dash Cam Confessionals.’ We hope you enjoy this…and Taylor Swift, if you’re watching…we’re sorry.”

Watch the video below…

There’s only one small problem… The officer knew good and well that he was being recorded. We contacted the department, asking them why the officer would have been unaware that he was being recorded. The media relations representative did not respond.

We asked further if that officer knew about the new web series: again, no response.

It may seem obvious to some, but others have swallowed this PR-stunt hook-line-and-sinker. The purpose seems to be showing the public the “nicer side” of those guys and gals who pull you over for anything and everything, fine you, lock you in a cage if you don’t pay that fine… And those are just the tame aspects of “community policing.”

By posting this video, and initiating this “new web series,” the Dover Police Department is trying to distract us from systemic and systematic police brutality. Don’t fall for it!

MORE: The goal of the video is to show a different side of police to counter negative perceptions of law enforcement, Dover Police Cpl.. Mark Hoffman said.

“We’re trying to humanize police officers. People tend to look at us as robots with uniforms and gun belts so we wanted to a show a lighter side of our force,” he said.

“I think it’s important for people to see police in that light.”

The video was shot as part of the Dover Police Department’s social media community outreach. To celebrate reaching 10,000 Facebook followers, the department launched a series called “Dash Cam Confessionals,” debuting with Davis’s rendition of “Shake It Off.”

Hoffman suggested “Shake It Off” and Davis was more than happy to oblige. He already knew the words, thanks to his 10-year-old daughter, a Taylor Swift fan.
